I acknowledge the First Peoples – the Traditional Owners of the lands where we live and work, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. I pay respect to Elders – past, present and emerging – and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Tasmania’s evolving cultural sensibilities .

EDIBLE COMMUNITY GARDENS

Imagine green spaces filled with raised garden beds, flowers attracting the bees, water features and landscaped walkways in each suburb where each placement is looked after by the local community.

A place where if you are stretched for fruit and vegetables you can go and gather what you need and give back by spending some time attending to the gardens, have families young and old all helping out a community space for all to enjoy.

Set up workshops to teach the younger generations on how to garden, what plants are edible, what herbs you can use in cooking?

Existing gardens: Punchbowl, Heritage Forest, Russell Street Invermay, Ravenswood

Placements: Rocherlea, Waverley, Mayfield, Summerhill, Prospect, Youngtown, East Launceston, Central Launceston
